Travel Guide London: the most beautiful shops & markets in Shoreditch

London calling!
The song in your ears and London in your heart.

Shoreditch is still one of the most exciting districts in London.
Creative, urban, and vibrant – the buildings here are as colorful as the life in the district and its residents. Old factories become venues for art galleries, markets, and pop-up shops. White walls don't stay empty for long and become canvases for street artists. Inspiration can be found around every corner, among modern concept stores, stylish bars, and young designers. Discover the best shops and markets in Shoreditch with us.

Boxpark

DAINTY DYSTOPIA - TravelGuide-London-Shoreditch-Boxpark

Boxpark has found its temporary home right at the foot of Shoreditch High Street Station. Stacked on top of each other, the black-painted shipping containers form the basis of the world's first pop-up mall. Each container belongs to a label or boutique.

The upper floor features restaurants, bars, and a sun deck. Shopping isn't the only thing fun here; after the shops close, you can turn up the music or admire the art.

Diptyque

The French company Diptique is known for its exclusive fragrances. Three friends founded the company in the 1960s and initially produced scented candles alongside prints. They now offer over 50 different candles and, of course, their signature perfumes. Of course, it's all about the exceptional scents, but the product design and packaging are just as amazing. During my visit, I took home a sample of "Eau de Senses" and was completely blown away.

Besides three stores in Paris, there are only five other cities worldwide where you can try out these amazing fragrances, and one of the stores is in Shoreditch. So, head over there!

House of Hackney

DAINTY DYSTOPIA - TravelGuide-London-Shopping-HouseOfHackney-Shoreditch

The plan for their own label was forged at the kitchen table in a house in Hackney: unique print collections, influenced by English tradition but reinterpreted.
The House of Hackney store offers all print collections, from furniture and wallpaper to fashion and lifestyle products. Stepping onto polished black floors, you enter a print paradise, while the walls are covered in a reinterpretation of the Dalston Rose. Upstairs, you'll find the lifestyle and fashion products, while downstairs, you'll find the entire furniture and interior collection. The entire store and all its products are coordinated print-on-print—gathering inspiration here is twice as fun! It's not for nothing that the "House of Hackney" now enjoys cult status and is often compared to the famous department store "Liberty." After a visit, one thing becomes clear: these future design classics should move into our apartment as soon as possible ;)

The Goodhood store offers a lovely mix of smaller and more well-known labels for men and women. The products are showcased on two floors among plants, wooden structures, and larger displays, with something new to discover around every corner. The basement features homeware, stationery, and beauty products. A great place for chic lifestyle products.

Brick Lane Market & Sunday Upmarket

I'm easy like Sunday Morning

Every Sunday! Brick Lane transforms into an open kitchen on the weekends: whether vegan cuisine from Ethiopia, Israeli falafel, or the finest Spanish paella – the chefs come from all over the world. These cooking stations are lined with small stalls selling antiques, clothes, and platters.

Even though the Brick Lane Market is no longer an insider tip, it's still nowhere near as crowded as, for example, Portobello Market in Notting Hill. The Sunday Upmarket also takes place every Sunday in the parking garage of the disused Trueman Brewery: vintage clothes, street art on canvas, and handmade jewelry complete the shopping experience around Brick Lane.

Beigel Bake

Construction workers, hipsters, and native Londoners crowd the entrance of "Beigel Bake" – London's oldest bagel shop – at all hours. Since 1855, around 7,000 filled pretzels in all variations have been served here every day. Anyone who wants to enjoy "Beigel Bake" shouldn't be put off by the dilapidated facade, the uncharming interior, or the long queue outside. After the first bite, even the most skeptical will be convinced and will return for another bagel – with cream cheese, lox, or the house specialty, "Hot Salt Beef." Sweet instead of salty is no problem either, as fresh donuts, croissants, and muffins also come out of the in-house oven, and they taste just as good. The 24-hour opening hours ensure plenty of opportunities to sample the selection.
