The UPSTAIRS is a relatively new hotel in Ostend, opening in 2018. Finally, a modern hotel in a side street off the beach promenade! The location is prime, with quick access to both the sea and the city. This urban city hotel describes itself as a meeting place for travelers, artists, creatives, and anyone who appreciates something special. Reason enough for us to check in at the UPSTAIRS ;)
New York feeling in Ostend
On the black-painted facade, a large, yellow U lights the way into the lobby. The UPSTAIRS' design concept is a blend of New York and a modern industrial look. The color scheme is black and yellow, combined with wooden elements, concrete walls, white tiles, and black-painted pipes. Everything here is well thought out: the staff welcome guests in yellow shirts with suspenders, the adjacent bar is designed in the same way as the lounge area on the ground floor. Here you can play table tennis, relax with a good book, and even go sliding. Yes, indeed. A yellow signature slide transports you directly onto a small stage. The hotel's monthly program includes various events, from concerts to film screenings.
Sleeping, dreaming and waking
The UPSTAIRS rooms also impress with their design concept. The concrete walls are lined with black pipes, the white-tiled bathrooms are clean with yellow and black Upstairs towels, and the beds are wonderfully comfortable.
We usually choose the Medium Room with Street View, which costs only €80 in low season and offers everything we need to make our seaside break perfect!
